About Bosh

So… Bosh is basically my favourite word! And I found myself saying “Bosh” every time I had a good coffee. So when David “Dave” Allwood, a close friend of mine said “You love that word too much Vin”, it was at that point the lightbulb moment happened! Bosh was born!

So we have the name sorted… who created Bosh?

The blog was created by myself, Vinny Coyle. I’m a Berkshire born lad, who used to kick a ball around a football pitch, and now spend my evening’s performing on the stage… I know, only a slight difference!

So where does coffee come into the picture?

I’m not going to lie to you, I used to hate coffee with a passion. I never gave it the time of day. To cut a long story short, I was a bought up drinking tea, and that’s all I knew, until the age of 18. It wasn’t until my schedule began to increase at Arts Educational School, London (University for performing students) that I first dipped my toe (or spoon, I should say) into coffee.

I began, as many of us do, with those syrup filled, skinny caramel latte’s. I mean they taste delightful, don’t get me wrong, but I found the more coffee I drank, the more I was beginning to enjoy the actual taste of the bean rather than the sugary taste of the syrups.

It was at this point I stepped into the ‘flat white world’, which has now taken me to the short burst’s of espresso, searching for flavour and intrigued by the taste of each coffee bean and roasting process. It was here where I began to understand the difference in each coffee I had, rather than just going for a coffee I began my search to find blends I liked or shops I’d heard were worth a visit to.

So why now?

Good question.

I’m currently on tour around the UK & Europe with Miss Saigon. Being constantly on the move, whether that be rehearsals or keeping fit, a lot of the time requires you to be full of energy. So of course, the first port of call is to find a good, local coffee shop. I found this really hard to begin with, as I was still relatively new to the coffee world. However, the more I got talking to independent owners, the more my knowledge & interest widened. I also taken back by how helpful the owners were to help me find new coffee houses or another of their shops that I may like.

This is when I began to have the idea of putting a list together of all the coffee houses as a resource for coffee lovers around the UK & beyond.

As time went on I had people constantly asking me about the coffee shops I’d been posting about on my instagram, I found myself sending lists of hidden gems to everyone. Then I realised… why not create a blog where people can come and visit to do exactly that? Find hidden gems and document them permanently!

“What better way to explore each city I’ve visited, than to start the day’s with a new coffee shop and warm ambiance, before getting out and about, discovering the gems each new city offers”

So what’s the end goal?

The end goal is to create my own independent coffee house in Berkshire. My home town Bracknell, has just had it’s town centre completely reformed into “The Lexicon” bringing it into the 21st Century!

I look around in London, for example, and there are so many hidden gems that create such an incredible product & atmosphere that they attract their target market in their masses.

My aim isn’t to create a chain of coffee shops. I’ve had my fair share of chain coffee, and personally feel that the product and customer experience gets lost in the want to make a profit. Of course, we all want to make an income. However, the experience for me, is key and sometimes in chains this is compromised.

So who know’s when or where… But you may find yourself having a cheeky little Bosh Coffee in years to come!
